Our Korean kickboxing originated from Taekwon-Do mixed with boxing. It is a self-defence and fitness contact sport that utilises kicks and punches.

Our Korean Kickboxing and self-defence classes are designed for those aged 13 years and above. Our classes are very intense at times and perfect for those wishing to lose weight, tone muscle, learn self -protection techniques and to feel confident within themselves.
In this day and age it is important to be able to be able to protect ourselves, to be confident enough to walk down the street or go out at weekends and know that if a situation arose, we have the skills to be able to deal with it.

Included In Our Kickboxing Classes
The Korean Kickboxing classes at Garry Shaw Martial Arts are different from any other kickboxing clubs or classes.
We do a lot of stretching and flexibility exercises in our classes to help build up the strength in our legs, as these are the strongest part of our body and are excellent weapons for us to use.
We cover a wide variety of techniques including:
Striking pads and kick shields using hands and feet
Self-defence using makeshift rubber knifes
Arm locks, wrist locks and takedowns
Self-protection by means of striking vulnerable areas of the body
Great cardiovascular workouts
Light sparring (optional)
Body resistance training
Blocking and counter attacking

Kickboxing Classes For Casuals & Competitors
There is an option to go for gradings if you wish, to work your way up the coloured belts to reach that coveted Black Belt. Gradings are held regularly throughout the year, and all information is given out at class, via email to our members, as well as on our members-only FB pages.
For those that wish to compete in tournaments, there are plenty of competitions on offer, and you’re more than welcome to enter under the GSMA banner.
